Out of our CTC values, which ones are the most important to you?

There are 2 values that have become very important in my life while being here in La Gloria. First, prayer before action.  Being here, with so many things going on at the training center and in my life, prayer has been a big part of making decisions. Second, is being joyful in the midst of difficulty. Something difficult will always happen, that is just the way life is. We have a decision to make to use the difficult time to cling to Jesus and ask for the joy that He has for us, or, let the difficult time defeat us and pull us away from Jesus. These are things I have been trying to practice in my life.

Something that God has called me to do is to introduce people to true love. By that, I mean to show non-believers love through my actions and words. This love is not from me, it is the only true love there is, the love of God.

Over the months of being here God has been molding me and making me more disciplined. He has shown me the importance and power in prayer before action. Everything must be taken to the Lord in ministry to ensure that it is His plan and not our own because even our best plans are marked by insincerity if we don’t consider God above all in our plans. Proverbs 16:2-3 says, “All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” God has also been teaching me to be dependent on the Holy Spirit in everything. We cannot fully operate in love and sincerity on our own, and so without the Holy Spirit touching our work, it’s nothing. We need to be fully dependent on the Holy Spirit in all things, even those that we believe that we are capable of completing on our own. God has also been teaching me a lot about striving for excellence in ministry. Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” I, very easily will work just to check boxes off, but I’ve definitely learned that when working for the Lord, and that should be at ALL times, I need to be giving my best.

With the help of the Lord Jesus Christ, to bring people to the Lord in love and in truth, teaching them all the ways of the Lord, while drawing close to the Lord because He is there. Always.

For me, it’s really hard to choose between the values we have because all of them are necessary for a radiant life in Christ. Without praying before acting or depending on the Holy Spirit, we lose sight of who is really in control, and whose strength we must rely on. Without servant leadership or excellence in ministry, we are only serving ourselves and working towards our own desires. Without operating in grace, truth, and love, having family unity or caring for the individual we turn the attention from loving our neighbors to ourselves. All of the values we have here at CTC are required. We are called to love our God with all our hearts, all our strength, and all our mind.  Just as Philippians 2 puts it: “So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus..”

Out of our CTC values, which ones are the most important to you?

Since the beginning of the internship, God has been instilling the values we have at CTC in me, and growing me in them. He showed me the importance of praying before taking action, depending on the Holy Spirit and serving joyfully in the midst of difficulty. These may all appear to be obvious, but the Lord has encouraged me to grow in these areas and have them rooted in me. In the past, being dependent on solely myself and having worldly ambition was normal, where seeking God’s will came after I had already made a decision. God has drastically changed my view on this, showing me that this was wrong, and that I was denying His Holy Spirit from working in my life. Serving joyfully can sometimes be a struggle on its own, to be self-less and focused on the people the Lord has commanded you to serve. Through trials, joyful service can be even more challenging, but not less relevant. God continues to work in my heart to serve selflessly and with true joy, always.
